Message from the President
Pinhel is a Portuguese parish in the municipality of Pinhel , with an area of 44.65 km² and 3293 inhabitants ( 2021 census ). Its population density is 73.8 inhabitants/km².
The parish of Pinhel, in addition to being made up of the city of Pinhel , is made up of the towns of Malta, Quinta Nova and Quintã dos Bernardos
Pinhel's symbol is the falcon , also present as a badge on its coat of arms. The falcon symbolizes the patriotism of the Pinhelenses who fought to defend national independence, at a time when they joined the patriotic movement of Mestre de Avis and when Portugal was under attacks from Castile, particularly in Beira Alta. The falcon was thus a talisman taken from the king of Castile by the Pinhelenses.
